6 Accessories You Would Need For Surfing

If you are going to be surfing, there are a lot of things that you will need. Several accessories will make your experience more enjoyable. First and foremost, the quality of your accessories should be robust. For example, you might want to buy FCS fins for extra safety and a better experience.

Surfboard

You should know a few things about surfboards before choosing one. First of all, they can be made from many different materials. The most common types are fibreglass and foam. Fibreglass is more durable, but it’s heavier than foam boards. Foam boards are lighter, but they’ll start breaking down after a few years in the ocean water or on land, depending on how often you use them.

Next, surfboards are measured by length (between 6’1″ and 8’6″), width (between 21″ and 32″) and thickness (between 2 1/2″ to 4″). Your board should be the proper length for your height: if your board is too short, it will feel unstable when surfing; if it’s too long, you won’t have enough momentum when paddling out into waves at high speeds!

A pair of fins

Fins are the most important piece of equipment you need. They help you to manoeuvre and can make or break your surfing experience. There are several things to consider when choosing fins for yourself:

  • Comfort – Your fins should be comfortable and easy to use. If they’re uncomfortable or take more effort than necessary, it will be hard for you to concentrate on what’s happening around you (like the waves).
  • Size – As with any footwear, fins should fit properly so that they don’t slip off your feet while you’re in the water or cause blisters when they rub against them while wearing them. It’s also essential that they aren’t too big because this could prevent them from providing adequate propulsion through each kick stroke.
  • Durability – The last thing anyone wants is their expensive surfboard ruined by worn-out or broken fins! Look for durable materials like fibreglass instead of plastic to last longer without breaking down prematurely due to everyday wear and tear over time. FCS fins are generally an excellent example of durable fins.

Wax

Wax is a substance applied to the bottom of your board before you go surfing. It’s there to help you stick to it, which makes for better control and balance. You can buy wax in different types: some are made specifically for dry sand, while others are ideal in wet conditions. The main thing to remember is that it should always be applied before going into the water (don’t forget this step!) and that after surfing, it needs to be cleaned off with warm water and soap or an alcohol wipe (depending on what type of wax was used).

Quiver bag

A quiver bag is a bag you can use to store your board and fins. An essential feature of a quiver bag is that it’s waterproof, so your surfboard and fins are always safe from the elements. You’ll also want to ensure the bag has thick padding on the inside, protecting your equipment from getting damaged while you travel or move around with it.

Many different brands of quiver bags are available online and in stores, so take some time to browse through them before deciding which one is right for you!

Surf booties or rubber reef slippers

You may have noticed that many surfers wear booties or reef slippers. These are typically made of rubber and are designed to protect your feet from rocks, coral, hot sand, jellyfish and other hazards that can cause injury while surfing.

If you’re going to be surfing in the ocean, these accessories should be on your list!
